Sister spent many years as an educator in Westchester, New York and at Mt. I have called you by your name. During her time as principal at St. Matthew’s School in East Syracuse she helped to develop a curriculum for the new math series which was implemented in Catholic schools staffed by our sisters in the Diocese of Syracuse. In 1983, she began serving in health care at Loretto Rest, a home for senior adults in Syracuse. Her love for reading was legendary, as was her concern for the environment. Alive with new experiences and ideas, she broadened our horizons with her vast knowledge and many experiences. As children entered, she greeted them reminding them that today was a new day, another chance to “begin again” and to make the best of this new day. These degrees served her well in her ministries teaching elementary school for 36 years in schools in Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Her memory remains with us and is a wonderful example of how to search, accept and growth through all of life’s experiences. In 1999, Sister Jane founded and served as director of Tabor House of Prayer where she ministered for 16 years. Sisters will miss seeing her traveling the grounds of The Wartburg senior living community in her motorized wheelchair.
